Nadine, Nadine vignette 1 Read online

The john eventually lifted his head and gazed down at her. He flapped his wings. The stirred air caressed her face. “I need to clean up. May I use your shower?”

“Yes, but quickly,” Nadine replied while glancing at the clock. “I have a client coming in twenty minutes, and I also need to freshen up.”

He smirked and then kissed her nose. “Understood.”

The john pulled out of her body, and Nadine felt the loss of his warmth keenly. While he was in her bathroom making himself more presentable, she changed out the comforter and pillows on her bed and added a fake fur rug to the floor. Then she picked the trick’s clothes up off the floor where she’d discarded them. Laying them flat, she tried to brush the wrinkles out, quite unsuccessfully, she acknowledged. He’d need to take them to a dry cleaner and have them pressed. Nadine shrugged. Not her problem.

She glanced at the clock again. What was her problem happened to be the man still in her shower. She needed him out. Now. As in, before the next man arrived!

Her ears grew hot with embarrassment, but now she couldn’t shake the feeling Mr. Wings would be disappointed at seeing her prepare for another. Nadine couldn’t do anything about it at the moment. It wasn’t like she hid her profession from him or anything. He knew what she did when he hired her. She groaned. She needed to add the final touches to her room, but it would have to wait until after her current john left. Pleasing the next man was really important, and she had sound financial reasons to cater to him. If she came close to his imaginings, he would reward her with large tips.

The water in her shower cut off, and Nadine stood straighter. A moment later the man stepped out of her bathroom, rubbing himself dry with her towel.

  She wrinkled her nose.

“I apologize for using this one,” he said, indicating the towel in his hand. “I did not see another available for my use.”

Nadine waved the apology aside. She’d dry off with a spare hand towel she kept in a drawer and take that one home to wash at the end of her night.

“May I see you again, Nadine?”

That was the second time he used her name. “What did you just call me?”

“Nadine,” he replied, a slight frown creased his brows. “Is this not correct?”

“Oh, it’s correct… outside of this room,” she said, barely concealing her frustration. “But in here it is Lynn.”

The john’s smile returned. “I will do my best to remember.”

“Do that. I do not want clients to find me when I am not at work.”

“Understood. May I see you again?”

What did he think? Well, she amended the thought, earlier she had wanted to deny future engagements, but that was before her orgasm—now she felt conflicted. She nodded curtly. “As long as you have enough cash to pay.”

“Not a problem. I have little reason to spend my stipend elsewhere.”

Her shoulders relaxed. It would appear she had a new regular. “Stipend?” she asked and then kicked herself. She had no business asking.

“Your Earthly governments provide for my monetary needs while I am stationed here.”

  Whoa, new level of weird.

“I stay on the ship when not needed for consultation, but that may change as I become more involved diplomatically with your world.”

“You have a whole backstory ready for everything, don’t you?” Keeping his fantasy straight would require monumental effort. She knew, after seeing the wings, she should have upped her rates for him.

The john looked at her quizzically, then understanding dawned. “You are unaware of Angel. My home planet.”

Oh boy. Nadine glanced at the clock. Ten minutes. She had to get him out of here. “I’m sure this story is quite fascinating. Tell me about it next time?”

“Of course.” He stepped toward her and began dressing. “I did not intend to make your job more difficult.”

Again she waved away his apology.

“You should not do that,” he whispered.

  “Eh?”

“You should stand up for yourself. Demand proper behavior,” he explained. “Is it not common courtesy to apologize for taking up someone’s time, especially while they are working?”

Nadine twitched her shoulders dismissively. “In here, clients reign. And within reason, what I want doesn’t matter.”

The john finished fastening the last button on his shirt. “You are wrong. I intend to show you differently.” He stepped closer, and caressed her cheek with the back of his fingers. Gently, he pulled her to him, cradling her head in his hand. His lips descended and he brushed them against hers. His tongue teased at the seam of her lips, and Nadine opened her mouth, deepening the kiss. Heat seared through her, and her toes dug into the carpet.

Before she was ready for it, he ended the kiss and pulled away. “Your next client?” he reminded lightly.

“Shit! Thanks.” Nadine took several hasty steps back, pivoted, and hustled to the small bathroom. “You know the way out?” she called over her shoulder.

“Yes,” he answered. “Good night, Nadine.”

“Lynn!” She corrected, even though she liked how he said her name, all seductively and with extra emphasis on the “a”.

  “Good night, Lynn.”

The door clicked closed behind him, and she sighed. She already wanted to see him again.
